Driving up to the RWA in Bristol today for the varnishing lunch and private view of the 161st Open Annual exhibition. Im thrilled to have had two images selected this year for such a great show...Exciting day...

30th November 2013
Hanging day for a small group show to be held in The Cave, (The Royal Photographic Societies Gallery in Greenwich). Entitled 'Wings', This project consists of artefacts, poems, objects and visual images that arrived to each of us in turn via the Royal Mail in a graphically illustrated package. As we received the package we responded in whatever way we wished and then sent the packet onto the next person. None of us knew whose work we were receiving or viewing, nor how other people in the group were going to respond to our individual contributions. It was not until we had all received the work in turn that we met and discussed how each of us had responded. This was an intense and deeply moving experience, as many of our responses became very personal and were often emotionally disturbing. The way we had interacted with the work we received at times seemed almost surreal. This is probably one of the most interesting projects I have been involved with so far. We hope that the artefacts, objects, images, poetry and letters making up this show will be exhibited again in 2014.

Spent the morning attaching labels to three of my Night Windows images as they have been shortlisted for the RWA 161st open exhibition. Fingers crossed!

Hanging day today for our Crossing Lines Group show entitled 'A Loose Traverse'. This will be an extremely interesting show. We have all been contributing to a joint blog during the summer discussing ways of evolving a truly organic and collaborative project and ruminating on what it means to be 'collaborative'. This culminated in a series of derive's in London by each of us, all connected resulting in a spiders web map of urban photographic explorations. Difficult to explain in words, the show is something that must be seen for yourself.

As part of The London Urban Photo Festival I am honoured to have been invited to present a paper as part of one of the seminar's to be held this evening at Goldsmiths College, University of London. My paper entitled 'Twilight – Towards an Urban Sublime' considers my research and resultant process of image making for my Night Windows series.

It will then be kept by them as part of the national collection of artists books.

After a period of struggling to tap into my creative side I attended a short day course on concertina bookmaking. I’m now thoroughly inspired and enthused to amalgamate my images and poetry within small artists handmade books…so watch this website for more news on this exciting new adventure for me.

1st and 2nd June 2013

I was absolutely thrilled to have a piece of work from my Night Windows series selected once more for this biennial open submission. I am very fond of The London Group, both for the eclectic nature of the artworks exhibited by the members and for the very friendly members themselves. I’m looking forward to the Private View tonight and the artists talks the following week. The show runs for two weeks at The Cello Factory, London finishing on 7th June 2013. My image on display can be seen HERE

Today marks the first day of Drawn 2013, at The Royal West of England Academy in Bristol. This is a show promoting work that expanded and stretched the boundaries of ‘drawing’. I have always maintained that my Luminograms are a form of drawing with light and so submitted three entries to this open submission. I was very pleased to have one accepted for the exhibition. It was a personal victory to illustrate how the genre of photography can be expanded or stretched sideways into the genre of drawing. An image of my small but perfectly formed work on display until the 2nd June 2013 can be viewed HERE.

It’s been an exciting time preparing my work as part of the Crossing Lines Exhibition for The Toronto Urban Photo Festival, to be held from March 9th until March 23rd. We have our Gallery Space booked – OZ Studios at 134 Ossington Avenue, Toronto and we all now, (hopefully) have our work ready to be sent off. More information about the exhibition and the artists participating can be found HERE. Do keep checking back as more will be added to the tupf site as we get more organized! Meanwhile I have put some of my work for this project on this website. The title is; Toronto – The past is the present and the present becomes the past.

I’m absolutely delighted to have one image from my Night Windows series selected again this year for the prestigious Royal West of England’s 160th Autumn Exhibition. 14th October 2012
I’m travelling up to London with my image that was selected by the judges of The London Independent photography’s 24th annual exhibition. It’s great to have work shown in The Strand Gallery, near Trafalgar square for a third year running. I can’t wait until the Private view next week to catch up with fellow photographers.

1st – 14th October 2012
I thoroughly enjoyed being part of The Crossing Lines Autumn Exhibition: HOME. As a group we had spent many weeks debating the meaning of Home. Whilst away in Italy I sent one postcard back to England each day with my thoughts on where I felt Home existed for me or whether it existed within me; becoming a physical entity wherever I went or stayed. These postcards became part of the eventual show.

1st – 4th September 2012
I’ve donated two images from my Italian street life series for The London Group’s 100 plus draw. The work will be on show at The Cello Factory in London for four days before the draw takes place on 4th September. Tickets are on sale via their website. It is their 100th anniversary next year; they are a lovely group of friendly artists; always worth visiting their shows.
