Gone & Forgotten?

Recently I have become interested in urban spaces that are now unoccupied. Capturing images of empty shops; looking in from the outside. These are spaces that are transiently devoid of humans. The possessions and artefacts left behind allow us an alternative narrative in which to construct our imagined identity of the previous occupants and their lives.

I find the ambiguous nature of the original identity of the shops fascinating. These images remind me of stage sets where the play has had its final curtain call; physical remnants of the drama are all that are left behind; Material objects, discarded and forgotten, collecting dust and debris as time forever moves forward.
